This project proposes an addition of a new office building to an old warehouse in the arts district of downtown Los Angeles, where old buildings are being demolished to make way for new ones. In this way, it tries to keep the existing building that is part of the defining character of the neighborhood and it contrasts it to establish its newly gained presence.

Through a ‘design/analyze/re-design/re-analyze’ framework the project delves into the exploration of solar facades and responsive skins with the use of environmental analysis tools. It does so in relation with spatial daylight autonomy and energy modeling calculations in order to achieve energy efficiency.
